205 Donors of Blood

For the starter of this year, Kathmandu Youth Red Cross Circle (KUYRCC) organized a Blood Donation camp inside the Kathmandu University (K.U.) premises on 09 October 2012, Tuesday from 11am to 3pm. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Anish Shrestha, the former President and Advisor of KUYRCC. Active participation of K.U. students and staff was observed and the program was a success with 205 donors, first time in the history of blood donations in the university, while the target was 200.

205 blood samples to be tested

Blood Donation is a frequent event in the university but the conduct is different every time. This year a new system of numbering the donors with tokens was introduced which made the processes flow systematically. The number of participants increased, however, crowding and rush decreased as 12 beds were provided for the donors in contrast to four or eight in the past years. Technical assistance was provided by Nepal Red Cross Society, Kathmandu and Red Cross Banepa chapter. The collected blood will be sent to Kathmandu Blood Bank for testing and distribution.

Mr. Biplab K.C. and Ms. Summi Shrestha worked as the program coordinators with all the help from the volunteers without whom the event would not have been possible. Their hard work was seen throughout the event. This was the first event which involved the new members from first year.

With the success of this program, KUYRCC looks forward to organizing more programs in the upcoming days and bringing out new ideas every time. It hopes to get feedback from the participants for improvement and requests them all to drops any new ideas they have on our door.
