A success story of KUYRCC.

We have been doing a lot of activities in and outside the university. Blood donation is one of those which is being conducted successfully with increasing numbers of donor every year.
KUYRCC organizes Blood Donation either on september or on october every year .It is usually conducted under the assistance of District Chapter and Central Office. According the Central Office it is the very period when the blood bank of kathmandu lacks sufficient amount of blood as most of the people move back to their hometown . Every pounds of blood donated at KU are taken to the central blood bank of Kathmandu. So this event has been contributing specially to the needy people of Kathmandu valley hugely. The amount of blood we deposit there is not sufficient however we have contributed to fulfill few proportion of demand and fulfilled our social responsibility.

Beside this, being a Youth Circle of Kathmandu University we are equally concerned and responsible towards the individuals of Kathmandu University. Every time we organize this event we keep the record of every blood donating individuals. Their blood group, contact number and address are recorded in our database .In case if anyone from the university requires blood and seeks for our help we look at our database and contact the donor available in the nearby area. This has been a lot of times and many individuals in and out of the university have directly been benefited through this network system initiated by KUYRCC.
Lastly thank you for all the donor without whose contribution this could never have been.

REPORT on BLOOD DONATION

Introduction

Realizing the importance of blood donation program in Kathmandu University, KUYRCC has been organizing blood donation program annually. This year, it was organized on September 29, 2013 (Sunday) marking the first on-field program of the newly formed executive committee. The program was organized in joint collaboration with AMES(Association of Mechanical Engineering Students),  SEEE(Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineering) of Kathmandu University and was supported by Student Welfare. The venue was set up on parking area beside KU Fast Food Cafe to ensure the consistent supply of foods and water during program.

Discussion

Basic preparations and planning for the program started from 8 am. At 11 am, the program was formally inaugurated by respected Prof. Dr. Bim Pd. Shrestha, Associate Dean of KU-SOE and  HOD of Mechanical Engineering, where he was the first donor himself. Although 31 volunteers were allocated for the conduction of program, 44 volunteers actively participated in the program as per their respective free time in order to manage massive crowd. Total 10 health workers were present in the program from central office of Nepal Red Cross Society. The program was furthermore aided by significantly large number of beds compared to the previous programs i.e. 14 beds. It became a wonderful success as total of 219 donors got an opportunity to take part in life saving campaign. The statistic is of importance for both, organizing committee and donors. The program was successfully adjourned at 4 pm.
